The NYU internal telephone numbers have 5 digits start with ``2'',
``3'' , ``5'' or ``8''. Here are the rules:
- Just dial the 5-digit number if you make an internal call.
- If you call outside, dial "9" first, such as ``9xxxxxxx''
(for 212 area code) and
``91718xxxxxxx'' (for 718 area code).
- If you call from outside, add ``99''
before the 5-digit number which starts with
``2'' or ``8'',
add ``44'' before the 5-digit number which starts with
``3''. For example, if
you call from 212 area code, please dial something like
``992xxxx'', ``995xxxx'', ``998xxxx'' or ``443xxxx'';
if you call from 718 area code, please dial something like
``1212992xxxx'', ``1212998xxxx'' or
``1212443xxxx''.
- For people who are not familiar with the telephone number in US, just
keep this in mind: US phone number has a 3-digit area code and a 7-digit
number, if you make a call between different areas
(It could be a long distance call, such as a call between
212 and 201, or just a local call, such as a call between
212 and 718), dial ``1'' before the area code, then
the number.
