How can I print PDF files?

P H Y S I C S

All you need is a PDF reader. Since most of the computers in NYU have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you should have no problem to view and print the PDF files. However, if you want to install free Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, please go to Adobe Home page at www.adobe.com. (It is very easy to download and install.)

Warning: On many UNIX machines, if you have acroread, don't use pdf2ps to print your pdf files on postscript printer. It might generate a huge amount of junk pages on the printer.

If you do not need (or want) to use the graphic interface of acroread, try following command:

acroread -toPostScript -level2 file.pdf
It will generate a file called file.ps so you can send it to a printer directly.

If you do use pdf2ps, always check your postscript files with ghostview or gv before you send them to the printer.

The fonts are incorrect when I print with acroread on UNIX/Linux, what can I do?

Please uncheck the "Download Fonts Once" button. (The Button should be up, see screen shot)
